De Veluwe 10 | Ride 1: The Summer Evening Ride

Just relax your legs after a day of office work. Clear your mind and go. Head in the wind, head empty. On a beautiful summer evening. If possible.

It's a nice habit. The ride after a long day at the desk. A walk through the backyard to recover in silence. But now the question: is it really that simple? 44 kilometers, 162 meters of elevation. Is that possible?

Answer: yes.

Yes, yes and yes. It's always possible. At any time.

The round

We start in Ermelo. Directly into the forest, towards Garderen. The asphalt rolls well. You can cycle into the evening via the cycle paths around Uddel and Elspeet. Open plains, dense forests and vast heathlands. A ride that reaches its absolute highlight in August. When the heather turns purple and is in bloom. Sometimes you come across a few small hills. Just enough to test the legs. And if you look closely, at dusk, you might just spot wildlife. You never know when the moment will come. You know you should never assume it, but it happens.

The coffee stops

Halfway through the ride. Deep in the woods. Boshuis Three. A historic hunting lodge. Where you can simply find the best apple pies available in the region. The ideal fuel for the final, before you drive back to Ermelo in one straight line.

Because it is possible.
