Hairpin bends of the legendary Col du Galibier during a guided cycling tour from Ride Up in the Alps.

La Marmotte Granfondo

La Marmotte Granfondo is the most classic and famous Granfondo of them all. The popularity remains as high as ever, and at Ride Up we understand that. La Marmotte is the ultimate combination of a tough challenge in a beautiful environment. The climbs of the Col du Glandon, Col du Galibier and Alpe d'Huez are all beautiful and difficult. Let alone if you combine them in one ride! This makes for a total of 174 km with over 5,000 meters of elevation gain.

Such a major challenge requires the best possible preparation. That is why Ride Up has found an experienced partner in Chalet Beyond. For more than 15 years, thousands of cyclists have prepared for La Marmotte in their cycling hotel in Oz. With guided rides, massage, sports nutrition and a fantastic location, you are sure to be ready for the big day. There is a personal care station available on the competition day itself.

You arrive at the beautiful chalet in Oz. Unpack, settle in and get changed.

Prepare your bike and, if you still have time, you can loosen the legs. Your journey has begun!

After a delicious breakfast we get ready for the first ride in this great area.

We kick off with one of the most beautiful climbs in the region: the Col d'Ornon. An easy climb with a few steeper parts, which provides a nice first challenge. You get the view as a bonus.

Today two classics from the Tour de France are on the program, combined in one stage: the Col du Glandon and the Col de la Croix de Fer. This is also an exploration of the first climb of La Marmotte.

It promises to be a tough day with more than 2,200 meters of elevation gain!

Speaking of classics! The historical Alpe d'Huez is on the menu today. This is of course the last climb of La Marmotte, so it is good to experience how much energy you need to have left — as far as possible.

The descent is absolutely worth it, with beautiful views Pas de la Confession cross.

Working towards La Marmotte: as close to this environment as possible.

Take the car to Allemond for a drive through the valley along the river. Keep the legs moving, but don't force anything. Recovery for Sunday.

Rest day, legs up! Possibly take a short walk today. Prepare your bike and determine your nutrition strategy for the Granfondo.

You are ready to achieve your big goal tomorrow!

This is your goal, this is your day. We have an early breakfast and drive to the start. We organize two personal care stations on the course.

Good luck today!

Time to leave, after breakfast of course. Hopefully we can all look back on a great week with good rides and new friends. An experience you will never forget.

Until next time!
